In August and September 2026, KOSÉ Travel Retail expanded its global DECORTÉ Liposome campaign at Los Angeles International Airport. The activation marked the third edition of the brand's presence at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. This year's footprint ran twice as long as the previous year's execution. Under the banner "One Drop, One Journey," the initiative deployed a structured retail demonstration model across multiple travel hubs. The targeted markets included Japan, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Bangkok and Los Angeles.

What Changed With The Beauty Passport Strategy?

The campaign transformed a standard product trial into a sequential customer journey. Visitors receive a Beauty Passport and navigate a mapped route starting with a museum-style presentation. This opening display explains the development of the Liposome franchise since 1992. The core interaction happens at a "First Touch Up" station staffed by expert beauty consultants.

After the guided trial, customers receive a physical stamp in their passport and advance to interactive digital panels. Participants who use these panels to share a personalized travel message receive a 12ml Liposome sample. In selected locations, completing the passport journey unlocks an automated vending machine. This machine dispenses bespoke sample kits tailored to individual skincare needs.

KOSÉ Travel Retail executed this format alongside multiple regional retail operators. Partners for the campaign included Avolta, The Shilla Duty Free and King Power Group. China Duty Free Group and DFS Group also supported the activations. The campaign began in Okinawa in March and extended across four Okinawa locations. These included T Galleria by DFS Okinawa Naha City and DFS stores at Naha International Airport’s domestic and international terminals.

The brand adapted its execution for different regional markets while maintaining the central trial mechanics. The Hong Kong International Airport activation ran from June 24 to July 22, 2026. This location introduced an iPad Travel Personality Test to guide sample offers based on individual results.

Meanwhile, the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport activation ran from July 1 to August 31, 2026. This execution operated in partnership with King Power Group. Thai actress and DECORTÉ Eye Serum Brand Ambassador Kornnaphat “Orm” Sethratanapong appeared at the Bangkok pop-up on July 2. Adapting the activation for local markets required distinct planning for each retail footprint.

Why Does Structured Sampling Matter For Consumer Brands?

Retail sampling programs usually get judged on how much product leaves the table. Marketing teams rarely measure the qualified pipeline built during those physical touchpoints. This campaign proves that physical product trials need an operational framework to capture data naturally. For brands relying on physical marketing, handing out samples without a participation mechanic wastes the physical interaction.

We specialize in creating retail demos, product sampling programs, and roadshows that bring brands face to face with their audiences. Each program is designed to drive trial, build consumer relationships, and accelerate retail velocity across multiple locations. When we managed a four-week Costco sampling program for Pulmuone's PlantSpired line, we focused entirely on structuring the trial. We delivered more than 65,000 samples and recorded an 18 percent sold-to-sale rate. That project gave us a concrete example of how structured retail sampling can connect trial with purchase.

KOSÉ Travel Retail applied a similar structural discipline to a high-traffic travel environment. By linking a 12ml sample to an interactive digital panel, they gave the sample exchange genuine context. Instead of forcing a transaction, the experience invited the customer to participate. Brands that master matching retail sampling locations with shopper intent can replicate this exact model to drive retail velocity. Structuring a multi-step journey ensures that shoppers actually understand the product they are sampling.

Our team recently designed and managed a 40 by 20 foot trade show environment for Glanbia at Natural Products Expo West 2025. Bringing think!, Isopure, Optimum Nutrition, and Amazing Grass into one coordinated space required meticulous planning. We handled concept, operations, staffing, and breakdown for the entire footprint. We recorded more than 14,000 product samples distributed across the activation stations. That execution proved that handling massive crowds still requires deliberate flow control. Brands focusing on blending physical trials with digital amplification for CPG growth need this same logistical exactness.

How Will Complex Journeys Impact Field Operations?

Adding a structured passport journey and bespoke vending machines fundamentally alters field logistics. Your staffing model must shift from entry-level brand ambassadors to trained consultants. These specialists must manage queue flow, operate digital tools, and guide high-consideration product trials. An activation spanning multiple countries requires standardized training and precise data handling.

Airport beauty retail is increasingly being positioned as an experiential environment. Avion Tourism reports that locations are adding personalized consultations, express treatments, and augmented-reality-style services. These additions are designed to help passengers select products quickly. For instance, Lagardère Travel Retail and Perfect Corp recently partnered on AI-enabled skincare analysis in European airports. Beauty advisors then help travelers navigate the retail assortment using that specific analysis.

Moving from a single touchpoint to a multi-step journey requires tight permit coordination and intensive hardware staging. KOSÉ Travel Retail says one drop of the Liposome serum contains 1 trillion micro-capsules and delivers lasting hydration over 24 hours. Communicating brand claims of that depth requires a controlled physical environment. Managing automated dispensers and iPad stands across terminals demands exact supply chain precision.

The operational lift increases exponentially when you customize the campaign for different operators. Working with partners like ANA Duty Free, JALUX Travel Retail, and NAA Retailing Corporation requires distinct operational protocols. A VP of Marketing recently told our team: 'Robbie, it was a pleasure working with you and your team. You turned our launch into an experience that connected with shoppers and built lasting excitement for our brand.' Our team created a launch experience that resonated with retail shoppers and generated momentum for future collaborations. We know firsthand that delivering excitement requires a flawless operational backbone.

How Are Executives Viewing The Offline Shift?

Hiroto Kitaki, president and CEO of KOSÉ Travel Retail, called the initiative a “groundbreaking global campaign” for the DECORTÉ Liposome franchise. Kitaki stated that the campaign connected online, offline, and inflight channels. This approach successfully delivers unified experiences to travelers worldwide. KOSÉ Travel Retail described Los Angeles as the location with its strongest consumer response in 2025.

What Are The Immediate Next Steps For Retail Campaigns?

Modern field marketing requires a seamless handoff between the physical trial and the digital follow-up. Brands must define which elements of their retail activations remain fixed and which can adapt to local markets. If your activation relies solely on foot traffic, you are flying blind regarding actual commercial impact. Connecting physical product trials to digital retargeting will secure the return on your experiential investment.

Focus your next field marketing plan on the value of the data exchange. Document exactly how many physical trials convert into measurable digital interactions. How will your team adapt your current retail sampling operations to capture meaningful customer data before handing out the product?
